Ravi Iyengar
With over 38 years of experience, Ravi’s key areas of expertise are change management and turnarounds and overall company management with P&L perspectives across varied products/ markets. His sound system and process orientation and experience across different functional areas including manufacturing have helped him understand better and add value. In his recent years, his work in an advisory/ consultative capacity have helped set strategy & direction and scale up sales rapidly.
After completing his engineering from IIT Varanasi and post-graduation from IIM Calcutta, the foundation was Asian Paints where to he grew to head sales for the country in just 8 years. In his career across the Middle East and India, he has worked across the building material space with paints, tiles, cement, construction chemicals & adhesives, electrical and lighting and building material retailing. Companies in the paint area are Asian Paints, Berger, Permoglaze/Sherwin Williams, Sheenlac and Pidilite, Nitco & Dalmia in other areas. He has also had short stints in automotive, lead acid batteries and FMCG.
His turnarounds include Nitco which moved to a positive EBIDTA in just 2.5 years, Berger Emirates which moved to a cash profit in 4 years, and the Permoglaze paint operation to being profitable in just 2 years.
In a special two year assignment on the request from the Board (2020-2022 February), he built up and mentored the team in North Karnataka at Dalmia Cements helping sales grow rapidly and double market share despite Covid setbacks.
His stint at the Asian Paints plant at Patancheru needs special mention where he worked to uplift the plant standards to match the best in the Company by totally revamping the plant system (IT) and streamlining accounts, taxation and both RM & FG stores.
He has been part of the Art of Living family for over 20 years now and a regular at yoga, meditation and Sudarshan Kriya. His interests include music and tennis – he plays the guitar and is an avid tennis player and fan as well.
